Heart2Heart: A Charity Anthology

I have a real treat for my MM lovers out here today. And yes, I meant in any way you want to take it. Today I’m sharing a beautiful anthology from several really talented authors who write MM romance. Heart2Heart is more than just a bunch of great stories though. It’s also a charity anthology, which means that proceeds are going to the LGBTQ+ charities of the authors’ choice. Awesome, right? So, not only are you getting a bunch of really lovely stories, you are going to help out some great charities, but stop reading this right now and go buy it.

Anyway, this book has an interesting setup. A couple of months ago, several MM authors asked for interesting and unexpected couple combinations. You know, like a sommelier and a criminal, or a lawyer and a lobsterman. Then 9 of the combinations were chosen, and the anthology was born. The premise is that all of the guys either signed up or were signed up by well-meaning friends and family for a dating app called Heart2Heart. They were running a Valentine’s Day special that offered a free dinner. The matches were supposed to be guaranteed love matches. The algorithms and coding were supposed to match you with the person who would be perfect for you. Except… It would be boring if it happened that way, wouldn’t it? There’s a glitch in the coding and the matches went all wonky. But, as this is a Valentine’s Day offering, you know that they are all HEAs, so you know that something good is going to come out of all the wonkiness.

I’m not going to review each and every one, mostly because I want you to go out and buy this book. Plus, the stories are all pretty short. There are funny stories and there are more serious stories. The one thing they all have in common is that they are full of true love and hot sex. I do have a couple of favorite combos, and I mentioned them above. You don’t think that these guys would possibly fit together, but they do, and it’s awesome. So, go check it out.

No spoilers today, but here’s a bouquet of roses. I hope that you have great plans for V-Day, no matter what you are planning on doing. Me, I celebrate 1/2-price Chocolate Day Eve on 2/14.

Lilly Holden-The SEAL’s Virgin Hostage

We’re back and visiting the bad boys from Marshall Security, Incorporated. These former SEALs are all creations of the talented Lilly Holden, and you can tell just how much she loves her bad boy alphas by how well she writes them and how much we get to enjoy reading them.

Today’s offering is The SEAL’s Virgin Hostage. In this story, we get to get closer to Ryder, who is also called Hollywood because he’s the pretty boy. The head of the company, Lance, had a mentor who had a beautiful daughter. When he died, Lance promised to take care of Paige. One day, Paige’s uncle came to Marshall Security and told them that Paige was in trouble. She was drinking, drugging, and running around. Lance decided that he was going to do what he could to help keep Paige safe. To that end, he sent Ryder to get her and keep her safe until her birthday, in 10 days.

Paige is a tabloid princess. As a very wealthy young woman, everyone wants to be near her or be her. The paparazzi¬†follow her around so that they can take her picture and catch her doing stupid things. The tabloids¬†all jump to the worst possible conclusion when it comes to Paige. To top it off, she’s surrounded by people she doesn’t really know and who may possibly want to take advantage of her, her money, and her good nature. One night, in a club, while she is suffering from a horrible headache and she meets a beautiful man who offers to help her. But, what are his real motives?

Of course, you can probably guess who that guy was. And can you still guess what his motives are? There are more layers in this story than you might expect to find. Lilly Holden writes guaranteed HEAs, so you know it will end up well, but that doesn’t mean that you won’t have some questions about what’s happening along the way. If you like sweet and instalove, go check these out. My biggest problem with these stories is that they are short. I just get through them too quickly.

I kind of guessed who the bad guy was before the reveal. OK, maybe not an outright guess, but definitely an I don’t trust that person and I think they are lying for some reason. Turned out that I was right to not trust them and they were lying.

OK, that’s all I have to say today. I know that it seems short, but the story is pretty short and I want you to go read it yourself. We have all kinds of fun stories coming up, so don’t go too far away! Meanwhile, happy reading!

Isabella Starling-Collaring Cinderella

We’ve got a couple of really busy days ahead of us. There are going to be some doubled up blogs. I’ll make sure one goes out early and the other goes out later in the evening so I’m not overwhelming you. Today’s first book is a surprise new book from Isabella Starling.

Isabella is finishing up her work on Peep Show. I’ve read excerpts and we’re talking 5 alarm fire here. But, she took a break to give us a new view on Cinderella. A filthy, filthy view of Cinderella. Collaring Cinderella is hot and sexy, and OMG, I just devoured it. I honestly couldn’t read it fast enough. I was sad when I couldn’t keep my eyes open last night to keep reading it.

Rafe is our Prince Maybe Charming. He is the heir to a huge fortune and a jewelry design company. His father is dying, and he wants Rafe to find a wife, settle down, make babies, and be happy. Rafe has found the woman he wants, but his father doesn’t know. So, Rafe plans a ball and makes sure our Cinderella is invited.

Ella is barely 18 and never been kissed. She lives with her terrible stepmother, Martha. Martha is Rafe’s housekeeper and works Ella like a dog. She’s terribly jealous of Ella’s youth and beauty. The second that Rafe set his eyes on Ella, he knew that she was going to be his and he was going to do everything he could to make sure that she wore his collar and his ring, no matter what.

This is a super hot instalove story. Ella had been crushing on Rafe for a long while and then Rafe sees her. It’s a dual POV, switching back and forth between Ella and Rafe. Rafe’s POV has a lot of the love and romance in it, while Ella’s POV is more about what she’s enduring and the decisions she has to make. I really liked that. Isabella did a beautiful job of making this classic come to life in a new setting and with a lot of steaminess.

So here’s the part where the path to Spoilerville starts. If you want to make sure that you have no spoilers stop reading when you hit the pic. If you are prepared, keep going. Remember that there aren’t always spoilers in the spoiler section, and you may just get my thoughts, but you are warned anyway.

princess

Welcome to Spoilerville.

OK, Martha. We aren’t ever supposed to like Martha. We all know the story of Cinderella and how it’s going to go, and the evil stepmother is the terrible villain. But damn, if I don’t hate Martha a whole lot. I mean, a lot. She does everything she can to make Ella doubt herself and her feelings. Every time Ella starts to feel better about herself, in comes Martha wearing her bitchy boots to stomp all over Ella. Martha is obsessive and delusional, and just ick.

Rafe and Ella are just perfect together, and I love the two epilogues. It’s a great update to the stories.

I’m not always an instalove virgin story type of person. We all know I like my noncon/dubcon goodness, but Isabella Starling is one that I always read, no matter what. She often has the virgin stories that have some dubcon goodness too. But even without that, she writes strong love stories with really, really steamy stories. Her heroes tend to have some really bitching dirty talk too, which oh hot damn, oh my my. I love me some dirty talk.

Anyway, that it for this. Later on today you are going to get the new Sara Field’s Captive Bride series, and I have feelz about this one, oh yes I do, ducklings.
