BLURB:

“Welcome, ladies, the next few weeks will decide your future. But before all that, let me introduce you to my son, Nicholas. To one of you, he’ll be a future husband. To the rest, a nightmare who will haunt your dreams for whatever time you have left.”

Victoria, born into a life of luxury, is about to discover that this will cost her a chance of freedom. She’s been hidden away to protect her virtue. Will the sheltered life leave her struggling in upcoming trials?

Nicholas is the son of a Duke. He’ll inherit the title on his thirtieth birthday. He’s been prepared for this moment all his life, but he didn’t count on falling for one of the girls he has to torture to choose a bride.

The ‘Legacy of Succession’ is a dark romance set in a corrupted aristocratic family. Nicholas is arrogant and driven; Victoria is the chaste rich girl. Together, can they free themselves of a society intent on corruption and inflicting pain that’ll destroy more than just their lives?

Let’s build a better world together rather than just extinguish the fires of hate.

Nash

I’ve survived suicide missions in war zones. Shifter prison labs. The worst torture imaginable. Nothing knocked me off my feet… until the beautiful lioness they threw in my cage. We shared one night before our captors ripped us apart.
Now I’m free, and my lion is going insane. He’ll destroy me from the inside out if I don’t find my mate.
I don’t know who she is. I don’t know where she lives. All I have is a video of her. But I’ll die if I don’t find her, and make her mine.
I’m coming for you, Denali.

Denali

They took me from my home, they killed my pride, they locked me up and forced me to breed. They took everything from me and still I survived.
But one night with a lion shifter destroyed me. Nash took the one thing my captors couldn’t touch—my heart.
Somehow I escaped, and live in fear that they will come for me. It’s killing my lioness, but I’ve got to hide–even from Nash. I’ve got to protect the one thing I have left to lose: our cub.

Loki Renard-Shamefully Shared

Loki Renard has brought us another shameful book, Shamefully Shared. I am completely unashamed to say that I loved reading every single dirty word of it. I love Loki’s work and her various worlds. My Loki Renard collection on my Kindle just keeps growing by leaps and bounds, and with books like Shared, it’s not hard to see why, now is it?

Lacey is a journalist. She likes to get the big stories. Three years ago, she was abducted by a Venezuelan militia group, accused of being a spy, and tortured. There was an elite military group that was there for another reason, and they decided to rescue her, even though she wasn’t a direct part of their mission. She promised the guys that she wouldn’t say anything about them, since they were a very, very secret group. But, when she gets home, she writes a story about her time and outs the guys. I mean, she’s a journalist, right? She believes in a good story and that people have the right to have information, and all. The problem is that her story gets them dishonorably discharged and disgraced.

Flash forward, and Lacey is in trouble again. This time, she and several other journalists have been digging into a huge story of high-level corruption. Over the past few months, most of the other journalists have died. One of them managed to end up streaming his death to a file-sharing site that they were all using. So when Lacey gets home and finds that there are guys in her house, she knows what’s coming. So, she calls the only person she can think of to keep her safe, Chase.

Chase is the only one of the guys who saved her who ever answered the phone when she called to apologize. So, when she calls for a rescue, he tells Rex, Brian, Col, and Max what happened and that he’s going to get her. After an argument, they all go out to rescue her.

So, with all the names, you can guess that it’s a reverse harem. Each of the guys has a very distinct personality and a very distinct relationship with Lacey. It’s really interesting to watch each relationship grow and evolve and see how each man reacts to Lacey and to everything that happens. It’s a great set of stories combined into one larger book, and it’s done pretty seamlessly. Since it’s a Loki book, expect spanking and all kinds of kinkery, and of course, a cage. I wouldn’t mind seeing more of this group.

pexels-photo-518543

OK, I want to know Brian and get into his workshop. He’s definitely got a flair for machinery. He’s devious and I love his devious mind.

Col. I like Col. He has a very clear view of Lacey. I think that he’s the only one who really saw through her. He watched her and knew her. He’s also right in that it will definitely take all of them to keep her happy.

Lacey would definitely run over the guys one on one. It’s not that she’s high-maintenance. She’s just very smart and very clever, and her brain is always working and trying to find the edges of the puzzle and how she can get around things.

I mostly liked the guys, there was one thing that they did that made me really mad. I understand why they did it, but I don’t like the way that they did it. It was pretty shitty.

OK, that’s all I have to say on this one. Go check it out and read all the other books that Loki has. Happy reading!

Jane Henry-Safeguard

Jane has brought us the second book in her solo NYC Doms series. Safeguard features the best friends of Tobias and Diana from the first book, Zach and Beatrice. I found this book to be much more intense than the first book, and a lot more of a roller coaster.

Zach is an officer in the NYPD. He’s also a Dom. He’s been seeing Bea for several months. They go to Verge and play, they play at her house, but they’ve never been to his house. It’s working well for them though. He’s her Dom, she’s his sub, and they are both getting what they need from the relationship. That includes Zach making sure that she pays her bills, checks her mail, and that she always tells him where she is.

Bea is a yoga teacher and hairdresser. She’s blissfully happy with Zach, especially when he calls her his good girl. Then one day, while he’s at her house, he finds a stack of mail she hasn’t opened in a while. Turns out her cousin Chantilly is getting married and wants Bea to show up, and it’s next weekend. While Beatrice wants to see her cousin get married, she doesn’t want to go home, but with Zach there, hopefully it will all be fine.

There is so much that happens in this. One of them is that Bea has feelings about marriage, and between her favorite cousin getting married and her best friend Diana planning her wedding, there’s so many feelings that she’s dealing with. I kind of don’t blame her for all her feelings about marriage, and weddings, and children and all after we meet her mom. I kind of want to urge her mother to take a long walk off a short pier, she’s such a nasty, haughty bitch. I’d dread going back home too.

handcuffs

OK, back to her mom. I can’t believe her mom at all. I mean, first she tosses away someone and then she uses that person to do something terrible? That’s some serious bullshit. And Judson? I didn’t trust him from the very second we met him.

I totally get Bea’s freakout. With all the stress about faking an engagement, everyone getting married, and everything else going on, a freak out was kind of imminent, I think. Zach not only made her feel safe, but he was her safe place, and when we melt down, we tend to melt down on safe people. I like Diana helping to talk her through her problems though. Everyone needs a best friend who can lay some hard truth on them when necessary.

I can’t wait for the next book, but I have no clue who it’s going to be. Maybe Brax. He gets mentioned a lot. I’ll just have to wait and read it. Darn, make me read another book.

So, go check this out, as well as the first book in the series and all of Jane’s other books. Happy reading!

BLURB:

Lady Arabella Windham, sister to the Duke of Manchester, has given up on ever attracting the positive attention of Lord Thomas Hood. After discovering he still sees her as the same hoydenish young woman she was in the past, no matter her current perfectly ladylike behavior, and realizing she will never match up to his infamous list of attributes for a wife, she throws caution to the wind and becomes more reckless than ever.

Why bother being good if it’s not going to even be noticed, much less acknowledged?

When her return to feckless and indiscreet behavior results in disgrace however, it’s Lord Thomas Hood who is caught up in the scandal with her. With a strong-willed bride determined to make her new husband dance to her tune and a stubborn lord determined to curb his new wife’s imprudent ways, is a happily-ever-after even possible?

Despite being part of a series, Arabella’s Taming may be read and enjoyed as a standalone.

Maddie Taylor-Defying the General

I think that the first Maddie Taylor book I read was The Barbarian’s Captive, which is the first book of the Primarian Mates series. I bought each one as soon as I possibly could and I was a happy camper. I look forward to each book, and I’m pretty invested in the recurring characters. Defying the General is the 4th book in the series, and it’s the most emotionally tense one, for me at least.

So, here’s the basic background on the series. The Earth is basically imploding. There are constant natural disasters and it’s a ticking time bomb. There are many more women than there are men, so the government decided to send out a ship full of 300 women to go out and explore the universe. They are on a mission to find a planet that is similar enough to Earth that they can colonize. Eventually, the goal will be to have as many humans as possible off Earth and on to the colonized planet.

A few years into their mission, our intrepid heroes find a planet that looks like it will fit. Some of the women go down in a shuttle so that they can evaluate the planet to see if it will work. While they are there, they run into some huge barbarian looking dudes who are running around in loincloths. Some of the scientists manage to get back to the shuttle and get away from the barbarians who are chasing them. Eight of the women don’t. They are captured by the barbarians who aren’t really barbarians but men from an advanced society who are come to this planet to hunt.

The women on their home planet all have massive issues with infertility due to outside causes. That means that as a species they are going to die unless they can find a species that they can cross-breed with. Humans fit. Humans and Primarians are genetically compatible. So, the 8 women are taken to the homeworld, where they are tested for compatibility to the men who captured them, and then they are mated.

Defying is the story of Lana and Trask. Trask is the highest military authority on Primara. He’s cousin to the leader and related to a huge chunk of the council. He’s a VVIP. Lana is a geologist. She and Trask manage to make their relationship work almost from the beginning. It looks like they are going to be one of the relationships that starts out smoothly and just keeps trucking along. However, she starts getting sick whenever Trask is around, very sick with migraines and can’t keep anything down. The healers can’t figure out what’s wrong with her. With a treaty made with Earth, she now has the ability to petition to dissolve their mating, which she does, telling Trask she’d rather be back on Earth.

I will fully admit to crying my fucking eyes out on this one. I just cried and cried. I loved Lana and Trask when we first met them, and when they showed up every other time in the books, I was glad to see them. But their own book? There were some seriously sad bits. I ended up with a huge pile of tissues next to me, and since I was reading in the middle of the night, I had to be really careful to be quiet so that I didn’t disturb my husband. Honestly, I couldn’t put this one down until it ended. When it was done, I felt weirdly hollow and happy. It sounds like a really fucked-up combination, and it is, but it’s the way that I felt. I really went on a roller coaster emotionally, and had that whole stomach dropping feeling going on, but in a good way. Go and read the whole series, it’s a great one. It is very kinky as well as a great story.

art-brush-color-6368.jpg

Ugh, I hated that Lana and Trask were apart for so long. It was so terrible. Poor Lana just never got better from being away from Trask. When they met on the ship right after they left, I was hurt for both of them. It was so traumatic. I was mad at Trask, I mean, couldn’t he tell how much she was hurting? He was supposed to love her and it was so obvious that she was lying to him, but…

I’m not surprised that the bad guy turned out to be who the bad guy was. What a prick.

I can’t wait for the next one. I’m pretty sure who the next couple will be. I can’t wait to see if I’m right.

OK, that’s all for today. I’m going to go settle in with my Sansa Rayne book and eat some canollis. Go check these books out and see what you think. Happy reading!
