Renee Rose has been writing a great series for a while now. It involves a species of ginormous, horned, purple aliens with rainbow come. They are the Zandians. They were chased off their planet by a race called the Finns. Prince Zander has been raised in exile, along with those of his people who survived, primarily men and women who are no longer of breeding age. When the first book started, there were no known Zandian women of childbearing age. That means that the Prince’s doctor did what he could to find someone who could carry the prince’s heir. They found out that the human women were compatible, and they found Lamira, who was a good genetic match for the prince. Because humans are slaves in this ‘verse, they bought her and brought her to the royal pod. That was the first book and the start of the whole Zandian adventure.
Each Zandian book is a standalone book for each couple. You get a complete story for each of them. But each book is also part of the overarching storyline for the series of trying to get Zandia back from the Finns. And so, we come to His Human Possession.
Leti is a human. She was friends with Lady Taramina back when she was Mina and a sex pet slave. When their owner died, Mina got sold one way and Leti another, such is the world of slaves. Leti now does the same thing for Emperor of Jujo. Her entire life has been either as a sex slave or being trained be a sex slave. She’s good at it. She can figure out what the men want and how to seduce them to give it to them. Leti learned a long time ago that it’s better to go along with the flow and not make waves. She also created her primary rule a long time ago. She doesn’t let her emotions take over. She doesn’t try to have an emotional connection to the men that use her body.
One day, Mina and her mate, along with another Zandian show up to the court at Jujo. Mina and her mate have been working as ambassadors for Prince Zander to help get them more allies for their war efforts against the Finn. And oh, by the way, they are planning on rescuing Leti. Paal, the unmated Zandian with them, takes care of that so that the ambassadors have plausible deniability.
Paal is a member of the prince’s Royal Guard. He was saved from the annihilation of their species by the fact that his mother had left his father and taken him off-planet with her. Paal’s mother is one of those women who is always looking for the next bigger thing. She goes from man to man until either she gets bored with them, she finds someone better, or they are done with her. He thinks that she treated his dad like a chump. Paal decided long ago that he wasn’t going to let a woman treat him like a chump, so he’s going to avoid women and any emotional attachment to them at all. But then, there’s Leti. She breaks all his rules and he’s drawn to her like they are two rare earth magnets. His biggest problem is that she’s practiced at seduction, and he doesn’t like it.
So, OK, it’s that time. This book is the last one in this series. I hope it’s not the last one in this world altogether. I know that Renee has a RH story coming out in the Zandian ‘verse, so I’m really hoping that’s going to lead to further Zandian stories. I have really enjoyed all of these books. Overall, I liked Paal, but there were a few times that I wanted to dope slap him. He doesn’t necessarily think about what Leti’s life was like or what her motivations might be. He’s very in his head sometimes and that’s rarely good for anyone. But, he’s a pretty good guy. I don’t want to excuse him, but I understand why he acts the way that he does.
Beautiful crystal, right? I loved and that’s how I think the Zandian crystals look.
So, like I said, Paal doesn’t always think about what Leti went through. He’s been a free being and never had to worry about being a slave, whereas Leti was born into slavedom and was trained as a pleasure slave since she was a young girl. I’m glad that Mina was able to smack some sense into him. She has been on both sides of the equation, so she definitely had the knowledge to share. And since she is Zandian and Master Seke’s daughter, he was going to listen to her in a way that he wouldn’t have to any human.
OK, that’s all for this one. Go read all the stories and enjoy them. Happy reading!
